Classic Ikea bathroom finishes Achievieved! (Almost)

So it's been a while since I updated the progress of my tiny dream apartment, but I've managed to hit a few milestones, so it seemed like a good time to share!

So my for my bathroom, I want a relaxing "spa" vibe. The bathroom was originally a 2-piece and was only semi-finished.

But it WAS paneled in lovely cedar boards 💖

Sadly the rest was a bit of a mish-mash. The medince cabinet is golden maple

The towel bar and toilet paper holder were a medium-dark oak, the vanity is a dark brown-black wood vaneer...

None of it went well together.

But I immediately knew what I wanted:

The classic walnut version of Ikea's discontinued MOLGER series!

I got lucky and scored a brand-new in-package towel bar right away

You can how the wood tones go:

Picking up the matching toilet paper tolder was easy enough: there's new-old-stock at a few eBay stores.

The real tricky part has been the rest.
I needed 2 sets of the hooks, 2 of the wall  shelves, and the medicine cabinet.

Weeks of searching turned up nothing locally, or on eBay. Eventually I started expanding my search, and by the time I got to eBay Germany, I struck gold.

Two different people had things I needed!

The first had had two of the wall shelves:

(I know the colour looks different - it's just my terrible camera and lighting. My parts are the same colour as the shelf in this picture, in real life).

But the other was the big fish, the MEDICINE CABINET!

A bit of negotiating, a dash of my extremely mediocre German skills (backed up by Google Translate), and both are on their way to me!

I still lack the hooks:

(from the 2005 Ikea catalog)

But that seems totally achieveable at this point!

I also haven't figured out vanity yet, but I'm going to live with the current cheap-o brown-black thing for the time being and replace it when I figure things out.

Tomorrow I'll grab some better pics of the room itself.

Thanks for the update honestly!! I'm loving the cedar boards. I also didn't realize how matching the colours would be so tricky, but you're still pulling it off. Also, instead of hooks maybe you could try the HÖVOLM (Rack with 6 knobs)?

Funny you should mention it! I actually looked HÖVOLM in store, and brought a piece of the cedar board to see how they matched! Sadly, I didn't love how they went together.

If I don't end up finding the matching MOLGER hooks, I'll probably go with SKOGSVIKEN (Hook). They won't quite match, but they won't clash with anything either.

That's such a coincidence! A pity they didn't go well together, but at least you have it figured out😁
