Be creative, but most importantly, be careful ❤️

How many times have you come across an item in one of our stores or online and recognized it from an IKEA “hack” you’ve seen on TikTok or Instagram? Or maybe you’ve looked at a photograph of a ‘new’ KALLAX (Shelf unit) and searched for hours online, only to realize it's been painted by someone at home?

We love seeing how you personalize your items, from BROGRUND (Toilet roll holder) hangers spray painted and used to store skateboards or hold back curtains (yes, you read that correctly!), to a  KNAGGLIG (Box) used as bedside table, coffee table, bathroom storage, plant holders, you name it!

We love the creativity of @TrndsttrXL fitting 4 HAVSTA (Storage combination) bookcases to their wall and painting them to match the color of the room, and @Claudine customizing her KALLAX (Shelf unit) using album covers!

If this has got you inspired to personalize your own IKEA furniture, then there's a few things to keep in mind.

At risk of sounding like the fun police… your safety is our absolute priority. Everything we sell has been tested to the highest standard, so it’s important your personalization don't impact the structure of the furniture.

Depending on what piece of IKEA furniture you have, that might mean making sure you attach it to the wall if the assembly manual instructs you to, checking (and following!) its weight restrictions, or not removing any back panels that stop it from wobbling.

So when it comes to customizing your IKEA item safely, why not:

🎨 use vinyl stickers or tape on your FORSAND (Door) for PAX (Wardrobe) to add personality

🖼 arrange your small FISKBO (Frame) to look like one huge one

🖌 fit your MALM (3-drawer chest) with colorful handle

Have you personalized an IKEA item in your home, or used it in a completely new way?
