So you’re thinking about getting IKEA’s planning team in to help with your kitchen renovation? Great idea! If you’re itching to get started, here are six simple things you can do right now to make sure your initial consultation is a great one.

Set a budget

Firstly, what’s the budget here? Are you looking to go all-out, or are you hoping to watch the pennies. Our friendly planning team can help you manage your budget–whether it’s big or small–all while making your kitchen fantasies a reality.

Make a floor plan

Whether you’re starting your kitchen from scratch, or giving it a thorough makeover, mapping out the floor plan is super helpful. Take into consideration where your appliances will live, where your sink will be, and what might go in which cupboard.  Think about how you tend to use your kitchen and plan from there, like placing bowls near the cereal cupboard, or storing cleaning products under the sink.

Measure, measure, measure

This one seems obvious, but it’s surprisingly easy to overlook. Accurate measurements of your kitchen lets our planning team fully understand the space you’re working with. If you need help, we have a dedicated team who can do the measuring for you.

Traffic control

Every kitchen has a natural flow that serves you and your household and it’s important to bear this in mind when planning a new layout. For example, if you’re a big tea drinker, you may want to place the kettle nearer the entrance, rather than on the far counter.

Choose your style

Imagine your dream kitchen. What does it look like? Does it have chic, modern vibes to it? Or does it have a farmhouse feel? Take a look at our kitchen styles  for inspiration.

Make a moodboard

Once you’ve got a rough idea of the kind of style you’d like, why not collect all of your inspo pics together to make a moodboard? It’ll let our team get to know your  style and easily bring your vision to life.

How are you feeling about your new kitchen? If the answer is ‘raring to go’, when why not get the ball rolling and book an appointment with our kitchen planning team
