Hope someone here has found a person at IKEA that knows their products or figured out the answer!
I purchased 3 of the Storjorm mirror cabinets (802.500.66) and had them installed.
The electrician was the last step and he wired them to the old dimmer. It doesn’t work. He tried a dimmer he had, and it still didn’t work. He did say something about IKEA cutting corndes and locking you into their ecosystem, suggesting I might have to purchase a specific dimmer from IKEA.
Calling IKEA and Chat got me nowhere, aprat from “it doesn’t say not dimmable so it should work but we aren’t trained on this level of detail”.
What do I need so lights in 3 bathrooms don’t make me us go blind at night?
Thanks!

Hej Marv,
Thanks so much for getting in touch with us on this one! We’re incredibly sorry to hear about the issues you’ve been facing with this product.
Unfortunately, the STORJORM mirror cabinet isn’t equipped with a dimmer, and there isn’t an IKEA-centric way of altering the item to make this the case. We regrettably can only recommend having the item altered by a third party to make the modification. However, this would void the product warranty.
We hope this information helps.

Thank you for your reply FJÄLLBO.
Are you 100% sure? IKEA has been trying to cut corners on everything, but for a $450 item, that pushes all limits way too much.
I took a look at the box inside and it might be a super cheap set of transformers so the change the dimmer tries to make is not passed onto the low-voltage side of the circuit. Just blows my mind this is alibaba cheap trick done by a company that used to be reputable.

Thanks for following up, Marv. Yes, unfortunately this specific product isn’t advertised as dimmable. While we do have a range of lighting systems that have this option, the STORJORM isn’t equipped with a dimming function as-is.
On that note, we’ll be submitting your feedback to our product team so we can take a closer look into ways of improving this item.
Please don’t hesitate to let us know if there’s ever anything else!

Sending feedback upstream is much appreciated, Fjällbo.
I guess the Intertek 3061837 Type No. L1218-1 Made in China is the culprit.
It's one thing to not include a dimming feature for a bathroom light, it's much worse when it's made so cheap that it won't even allow for an external dimmer to work with it.
And of the side LEDs are also made cheap and don't do either CCR or PWM, then there's no way around it, apart from getting my 5*$450 back and buying a decent product from elsewhere while losing the $750 for installation/electrician.
How hard was it to put "WARNING: NOT DIMMABLE", it's not 1995, and LEDs for $2-3 are dimmable nowadays.
