My Liatorp Bookcases have peeling around the trim. Is there a replacement for this? The paint is also worn off on the shelves in places where I had baskets that were used often. A couple of the hinges have popped off and now can't be reattached. Is there anything that Ikea will do to help? How do I fix this?

In speaking to your people on the phone I was told to find the transaction number of my purchase (for receipt) and they would connect me with the pieces that I needed. They knew I didn't have my receipt and that it was about 7 years ago when they advised me about this. I reached out today over chat and was extremely disappointed. I am absolutely flabbergasted by the way I was shut down. I have spent hours on the phone in seeking a solution and have gotten nowhere. This was a frustrating experience. I have spent hours trying to get flawed pieces from my Liatorp bookcases replaced so that I do not have to place it into the landfill. It has been well cared for, and yet the top molding pieces on both of my cabinets has the finish peeling back at the corners which makes it look unappealing. At this time, Ikea does not offer repair tape or instructions for this problem. The paint wore off on the one shelf that is used often with the baskets, and I would like to have it repainted. Ikea does not offer this paint. The left side panel on the cabinet used often requires a repair in the middle hinge on bookcase left panel. It popped out and the wood came with it. Now I have a hole. I don't know how to repair this. It is strange because it is only the middle one. Seems like a flaw. I was told multiple times over chat and phone that if I find my transaction number on my credit card that they would be able to pull up my receipt and assist me in getting the pieces, but that they were unable to do that without it. I found it and when into the chat today and they dismissed me. I asked to be escalated due to the time I have wasted on this. I am very unhappy. I have been mislead and I know you can find my interactions on my chat history to see that I was told that finding the transaction number was key. They knew it was 7 years ago when I purchased it when they told me this. More than one staff member told me this. When I asked to be put through to a supervisor or to escalate the process for complaint, I was told that they were unable to do that. If this was my first interaction with Ikea, I would NEVER purchase anything again. I am trying to maintain a couple of pieces of furniture that were expensive and seemingly good quality. The issues I am having with the product are consistent on both pieces. No one touches the top molding pieces of a cabinet. The bottom pieces are still beautiful, yet vacuums and people bump into them regularly. It is my understanding that Ikea is trying to make environmentally friendly choices in their policies. This situation that I am in is the opposite of what I believe the public would feel is sustainable business practice. Wasting customers time, poor customer service policies, refusal to allow customers to find a solution for the poorly made product, refusal to allow the customer to submit a complaint, refusal to allow the customer to repair and retain the products they have purchased, I am extremely disappointed. I was trying to be an honest customer. I am sure you are aware of how easy it would be to go to the store, buy a cabinet, switch the parts out that I need and go on my merry way. Please stop punishing the honest people with your archaic policies. I want to be contacted. I want this resolved the honest way. I wasn't asking for free warranty product assistance. I am willing to pay for my parts, although I believe strongly that this is poor manufacturing.

Thanks for writing back, @ikeatime. We're very sorry about the inconvenience. However, because this was purchased 7 years ago, we are unable to assist with any exchanges. We do not sell these parts separately either. You can try to visit your local IKEA store to see if anything can be done there but we cannot make any promises.
