Click and Collect

I have been trying to buy the Malm 6-drawer chest for a few months now, but each time I drive to my Ikea location it is out of stock. The first few times the website showed that some were in stock, and then when I arrived at the store none were actually in stock. I submitted my info to receive a notification when the item was back in stock and it was finally restocked yesterday. I was not able to go and pick up the dresser that evening, so I placed a click-and-collect order for the next day. The order was confirmed, I was charged for the item and I was given a time slot to pick it up. When I arrived at the pickup time, I had not received an email that the order was ready, so I went inside and was told my order would be out in a few minutes. Later, I was informed that the item was oversold and that I would not be receiving it. I am very frustrated as I have driven to the store three times now, and even though I placed an order where I thought the item would be reserved for me, I can't buy it. I am confused as to why the item was not placed aside for someone that ordered it within 10 minutes of it being restocked, and why I was never informed that the order was cancelled or the item was oversold before I arrived to get it. If anyone could help explain this or offer some advice that would be much appreciated 🙂
