Can you cut the back of a Billy Bookcase to accommodate electrical outlets?

We want to make a wall and corner of shelving but want to access electrical outlets. Anybody cut into a Billy Bookcase back panel?

I sure have! I've also done it with PAX.

It's fine so long as it's a reasonably small hole and you're not doing it too close to the edge or seam of the back panel (if yours has a seam). I'd recommand keeping the hole at least 2-3 inches from the edge or seam to keep the hole is as small as you can get away with, but otherwise have at it!
