EKBACKEN Countertop twisted and cupped

Solved Go to answer

Is it normal for the EKBACKEN (Countertop)  I  ordered to arrive twisted and cupped?

Screwing it down to the cabinets might straighten out the twist and keep the edges/ends down, but how to fix the cupping to butt it up against another EKBACKEN Countertop?  (both are twisted and cupped to various degrees).

I tried leaving them flat on the floor with some weights on the ends over night - haven't checked up on them yet to see if this helped.

I ended up reaching out to IKEA support and after going in circles for a bit and providing the photos, they should be sending me a replacement.  I have no tracking info... so we'll see if it shows up 🙂

They did clarify that it's not normal for the countertops to be warped, that they should be perfectly flat.  I suspect the defect was caused by improper storage and/or transport.

The replacement countertops also showed up curved and cupped... maybe the delivery folks are doing a bad job of storing them?  I tried using them anyway.  A single piece would be fine after being screwed down, but the joint between two pieces is not pretty.

Hej,

Sorry to hear that you're still experiencing some problems with the replacement countertops.

I would then advice you to reach out to IKEA support again if you're not completely satisfied with the product.

Our first goal is customer satisfaction.
