Oversidan LED compatibility with PAX Corner Unit

Does anyone know if the Oversidan LED (604.750.19) is supposed to be compatible with the PAX Corner Unit (303.469.34)?

It seems that the sensor on the LED Strip is on the left side of the strip, so a left side PAX Corner unit does not trigger the sensor when the doors are closed. This causes the LED to be permanently on inside the wardrobe?

There is no statement of compatibility in the instructions? the PAX planning tool allows for the configuration so it is all very confusing.

The 96cm ÖVERSIDAN (604.750.19) should have two sensors, one on each side, so it should work regardless of left or right orientation.

You’re right, it seemed that way to me as well. However on both my units, only the left sensor triggers the shut off.

Looking at the Assembly Instructions on page 12, it seems to call out the left sensor but makes no mention of the right one. Not definitive proof but I have trouble believing both units would have the same defect.

Very strange. The instructions are for all 3 sizes, and only the 96cm size has two sensors, so I assume the instructions only point out one sensor as so not to confuse owners of the smaller sizes?

Very stange. I've not used ÖVERSIDAN personally (last time I did a PAX install it didn't exist), but I did look at it in store when planning out my setup for my current home (decided against PAX).

I'll wait for a mod or other staff member to chime in I guess. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Hej,

Thanks so much for reaching out! The number/location of the touch sensors on the ÖVERSIDAN lighting strips depends on the size. The two smaller sizes have one sensor in the middle, while the largest size (96 cm) has two sensors, each splitting the length of the light in thirds (roughly).

Whether or not these will be compatible with your corner unit depends on what kind of door you’re adding, where it covers the corner unit, and which ÖVERSIDAN size you pick. If you’d like to know the measurements of where exactly the sensors are on the ÖVERSIDAN strips, just let me know!

Hopefully this helps!

Hello,

Thank you for your reply. I have linked to two videos below of each of my ÖVERSIDAN (96 cm) units. As you will see in both units, only the left sensor triggers shut off when covered.

Thanks for following up with us! In this case, a possible solution may be to pair the TRÅDFRI driver that’s connected to your lighting solution with a remote control, so you can manually turn the lights on and off.

Otherwise, we can recommend opting for a shorter ÖVERSIDAN so the door covers the sensor.

We hope this information helps.

I appreciate the feedback I’ll look at the options.

However, given the limitations of the product. I believe Ikea should update their instructions and compatibility statement for this item. Since it does not support many Pax configurations, it is very confusing for the customer.

I have the exact same issue as @mkab8. I've got a left corner unit with a 96cm oversidan. I've also got a 100cm pax with another 96cm oversidan. In both cases, only the left sensor of the oversidan works. Is the right sensor functional at all? This seems like a defect but I find it hard to believe that so many units are defective and all with the right sensor. But it also doesn't make sense to me that ikea would add a second sensor only for looks.

@FJÄLLBO please investigate this, there must be a solution. Manually controlling the lights defeats the point of having a sensor. The lights look amazing however if this doesn't have a fix then they are useless for the purpose they are sold.

Thank you.
